La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly is one of 46 new Municipal and District Assemblies created by the government of Ghana in 2012. The Assembly is bounded on the south by the Atlantic Ocean, and shares boundary on the west with Osu Klottey Sub Metro, on the north-west with Ayawaso-East and Ayawaso-West Sub Metros of Accra Metropolitan Assembly and on the east with Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly.
The boundary is defined by the road from Tetteh Quarshie interchange, through Liberation road to the Ako Adjei interchange. Then it turns onto the Ring Road East, and runs through the Danquah circle to the stream near the old American embassy, and runs along the stream through Nyaniba Estates near Osu into the Atlantic Ocean. There, it turns left and runs along the coastline to the Kpeshie lagoon and then along a tributary of the lagoon right up to the Spintex Road. However there is some dispute over boundary with LEKMA in areas close to the Spintex Road and around the Accra Mall.
The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Area has some of Accra’s posh addresses. North Labone, Cantonments, AU Village and Airport City are located in this local government administrative district.
