Have you ever taken time to look through any annual plan or budget of your Municipal Assembly? Well, many Ghanaians have never done anything like that. Now, Labone Express is facilitating public access to one of such plans: you can access the 2013 composite budget of La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly here. This public access is being promoted by Labone Express as a community service blog with an objective to promote public interest and participation in decision making in the Assembly. Constituents of La Dade-Kotopon can download the document and review for themselves .
The 2013 Composite Budget contains activities which, the developers of the document say would work towards the vision of making La Dade-Kotopon Assembly the best in Ghana. That implies residents of the area would get the best local government services in Ghana.
The key focus areas of the budget are:
- To improve socio-economic growth of the poor urban settlement through better participatory management, job creation, public / private partnership and governance at local levels
- To improve livelihoods in urban and peri-urban zones through increased access to basic services and socio-economic infrastructure.
- Facilitate access to income generating activities through capacity building and strengthened urban small scale enterprise sector
The Assembly planned to execute a GH¢20,000.00 project in the Labone electoral area. However the budget didn’t state any specific project.
There are activities, also, to deal with sanitation problems in some parts of the municipal area.
