New Marriage Registry Opens Near Kanda, Accra

A new marriage registry in Accra has opened near the 37 Military Hospital in Kanda. The marriage registry has been opened by the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, to make marriage registration services more accessible to residents of Kanda and Nima, and indeed other residents of the city of Accra.

The types of marriage registration performed at the A.E.M.A. Marriage Registry are Ordinance Marriages or Court Marriage (Civil Marriages) and Customary registrations, between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday every week.

Location

The registry which is located in the offices of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly near Kawukudi Junction, can be accessed off the road from Gold House traffic lights to 37 Military Hospital on the Olusegun Obasanjo Highway, or off the Kanda Highway near the magnificent mosque. (Please refer to the Google Map embedded below).

Marriage Registration Fees

The fees for marriage registration are, GHS85.00 for filing of a Notice of Marriage and Issue of a Registrar’s Certificate, and GHS160.00 for Celebration of Marriage (Official Marriage Ceremony). That makes a total of GHS245.00 in fees for registration of marriage under the ordinance at the A.E.M.A. Marriage Registry. These fees are valid for the year 2019 and may be changed in subsequent years.

  1. My father is estranged from me so do i still need to put his name on the certificate? What if he was deceased? Who would i put instead? My boyfriend parents will be his witness.
