Property owners in Accra will pay more in property rates this year, 2014. Rate imposts for all the rating zones in the city have been raised about 13.33% over last years’. The rate for Residential Class 1A, which includes Airport Residential Area, East Legon, Ridge and Roman Ridge, has been raised from 0.0015 for 2013 to 0.0017, and the minimum amount owners of property in the zone can pay has been raised also, from GHC100.00 to GHC115.00.
The new rates are announced in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s Imposition of Rates and Fee-fixing Resolution, made at a general meeting of the Assembly on 31st October 2013 and published in the Local Government Bulletin, No.4, of 24th January 2014.
To obtain how much to pay for a given property for the year, that property’s rateable value is multiplied by the rate impost applicable to the property type and rating zone.
