Kwame Dickson from Cantonments Accra has won the RedBull King of the Rock Ghana 2015 basketball tournament finals played last night September 11 at the Lebanon House, Accra. New Date for District Assembly Elections 2015 Out Finally

The District Assembly Elections 2015 will come off September 1, the Electoral Commission has announced, finally. The commission has posted notices of the polls and the date, as well as voters’ education posters in the electoral areas. The local government polls were scheduled for March 3, 2015 initially, but were suspended on the orders of the Supreme Court when an aspiring contestant challenged the electoral commission for wrongful disqualification. The court held that the law the EC sought to rely on to justify its disqualification of the applicant was non-existent. Ghana’s most popular HIV awareness ambassador, Mrs Joyce Dzidzor Mensah Nartey on Monday December 15, confessed she never tested positive for HIV, the virus that can cause AIDS. She made the declaration after several years of campaigning to raise awareness for the disease and to end stigmatisation of people living with the virus. The Ghana AIDS Commission engaged Joyce Dzidzor Mensah Nartey and three other people living with HIV in 2011 for a campaign called the “Heart to Heart” to end stigmatisation and mother-to-child transmission. EC Confirms New Date for District Assembly Elections

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has confirmed March 3, 2015 as the new date for the District Assembly election. The EC initially scheduled the election for October 2014, but postponed it due to the untimely release of funds to the EC for the election. The Unit Committee election also is scheduled for the same date.
